Associate Professor Julie Fisher’s research activities over the last ten years or so have all in various ways explored the question of how information systems can better meet the needs of their users. More specifically, her research interests are in the areas of technical communication, usability (particularly in relation to the web) and the issues facing women in relation to technology. Through research she has also developed an understanding of the contribution which professionals outside the information systems field  can bring to the systems design process, recognising that the inclusion of people with skills in usability, ergonomics, technical communication, graphic design and other fields in design teams can produce systems which better meets user needs.

Julie will direct the information resource identification, assessment and description component of the project.
